A very dark green, warted, hubbard type--you have seen all these in fall displays. The warts look black, hence the name. It's a favorite heirloom that is very hard to find in small quantities. We have 1 of the best ounce prices on this variety if you can find it. It will preform well in the 3 Sisters companion planting. You will more than likely be the only one at your farmers market with these! It will store for awhile, so after you're done with using them for decorations put them in the oven.
