Hairy Vetch is a great soil builder, one of the better ones. This is an all Heirloom variety that has been used for hundreds of years in beyond organic, sustainable farming practices, that will help choke out weeds as well. These have lavender, purple blooms. Use as a fall or early spring planting; Hairy Vetches are cold hardy. We are in zone 6a and most winters it will over winter fine. Some folks graze goats on it, but be careful on the plant stage you send your stock to-- the blooms have been known to get stuck in the stock when eating them. Whatever ground cover you choose, you can plant knowing that you are truly being beyond organic because you are doing the correct practice. Happy growing!!!
